Hi, I'm Sugar!

My human sister got me at a pet store for my lady as a get well gift when she had a broken back.  My humans loved me very much from the first time they saw me.

I was a cute little ball of fur when I was a baby.  I used to hunch my back when I got excited and run around the house looking just like a little ball of brown and white fur.

I like to fetch yarn balls my lady makes for me.  I have other toys but the balls are the best.  Red is my favorite color.   If you line up a bunch of balls and tell me to get the red one, I will do it for you.

I have little floppy pillows my lady makes for me.  I like to take them out of my toy box, (she made that too) and shake them until my hair is all over my face.  Everyone laughs at me when I do that.

I've been sick a lot and my humans think I came from a bad place called a puppy mill.

I had an operation on both of my eyes.  They said I had a third eyelid on each eye and they would fix this.  It didn't help.  I am going blind.  My lady says she will always take care of me, no matter what.  If I am having a bad day with my arthritis or my eyes, she carries me.

It is just my lady and me now.  My human daddy had to go away and could not come back.  I slept under his hospital bed for one month before he left.  I looked for him for a long time and really missed him.  Sometimes I still think I hear him and go looking for him.  I got to say good-bye to him even though the woman from hospice scolded my lady for letting me do it.

I take care of my lady now.  She tells me I am all she has left to live for.

I am almost 12 years old and I still like to play with my balls sometimes and take all my toys out of my toybox.

I love it when someone comes to visit, especially my human brother who plays ball with me and my furry golden friend, Missy. Click on the Golden Retriever below to read Missy's story.
